User insights as a driving force for better services
Design-driven innovation, also known as Design Thinking, is about using design as a tool to develop better solutions — starting from real needs, not assumptions. That means we start by understanding the users and the system they are part of, before we draw the solution.
Instead of jumping straight to feature requirements and technology, we take a step back and ask: Who are the users? What are they trying to get at? What prevents them today? By answering these questions first, we create solutions that hit better, work better -- and deliver more value.
At Increo, Design Thinking the methodological approach we use. It provides structure to our innovation efforts, and ensures that we develop solutions that are both desirable, possible to build — and useful in practice.
We want to understand people, challenge assumptions and explore new solutions. Our work always starts with insight: What are the users trying to achieve? What's stopping them? What should the solution do to actually work — in everyday life?
Through interdisciplinary collaboration and structured exploration, we move from insights and ideas to concrete concepts, prototypes and solutions that can be tested, improved and realized. When pace and direction are important, we use Design Sprint — an efficient and structured format to test ideas and clarify direction in just a few days.
In Increo we use service design to create cohesive experiences across touchpoints. We map the entire user journey — before, during and after use — and identify where friction, misunderstanding or loss of value occurs. The goal is to improve the entire service, not just the surface.
A good design is not just visual — it is structural, functional and adapted to both the end user and the business.
Systemic Design and Holistic Thinking
Several of our projects require us to look at the interaction between people, processes and technology. Through the principles of systemic design, we work with complex issues in which many actors, objectives and systems influence each other. We visualize relationships, uncover bottlenecks, and design solutions that work — not just in one part of the organization, but in the whole.
This is particularly important in projects involving the public sector, health and welfare, education or collaboration platforms.
Good design should work for everyone -- not just for “most”. Therefore, we are actively working on universal design, clear language, easy navigation and smart information structure. We build solutions that reduce cognitive load and make it easy to understand what is happening, and what the user should do next.
Design for accessibility is about more than technical WCAG compliance -- it's about respecting the diversity of the population.
Our design process is not linear. Through prototyping, user testing and rapid feedback loops, we develop solutions in tandem with new insights. We don't believe in “guessing right the first time,” but in building wiser over time. Many of our most successful solutions are the result of continuous optimisation — working closely with our customers.
When we talk about the design being sustainable, we mean that it should withstand change. It should be flexible enough to be further developed, simple enough to use correctly, and sturdy enough that it does not have to be rebuilt at the next need. We design for the long term — not temporary campaigns.
At Increo, you get a partner who understands how technology and design have to play together for the solution to actually work. Our teams combine business acumen, technical insight and design expertise, and we always work with real needs — not assumptions.
We lead processes from insight and idea to finished solution — and beyond. That's when the really interesting improvements begin.
We have had the pleasure of working with clients across a range of different industries, which has given us broad experience and a good understanding of different needs and challenges.
At the same time, we have worked closely with several customers in the same segment, which has made us even better equipped to find precise solutions for these industries. We can quickly identify challenges and deliver effective solutions that help drive good results.
As a customer, you can also benefit from this valuable insight and expertise.
