Technology at the service of art: This is how PoMo simplifies the museum experience
With world-class art exhibitions and high demands on security and flexibility, PoMo needed digital solutions that were as precise as the brush strokes on the walls. Increo developed a bespoke system -- built to last and adapted to a museum that puts art in focus.

From vision to reality: Technology that makes art accessible
Posten Moderne (PoMo) is more than an art museum — it is an ambition to bring world-class art to Trondheim and inspire an entire region. The museum is part of REITAN's Cultural Quarter, along with Britannia Hotel and Nye Hjorten Teater. With iconic works like Munch's “Scream” on its walls, the museum needed digital solutions that could handle everything from ticketing to art catalogs -- without compromising security or user experience.
Cooperation between PoMo, Increo and the Spanish Agency Classes that has delivered identity and design, was built on trust and a common understanding: this project was supposed to unite technology with art in an entirely new way. The solution was therefore not made on a collection of ready-made modules, but a bespoke system that gives PoMo full control over both operations and data.
Work started in the winter of 2023, and in June of the following year, a MVP version launched, focusing on ease of navigation and information. Since then, the platform has grown with additional features, such as ticketing, membership and capacity management. With a digital art catalog and online store on the horizon, the platform is designed for both today's needs and the opportunities of the future.

The Challenge: Technology Matching World-Class Art
PoMo is not an ordinary museum -- it's an arena where world-class art meets the public. This set very specific requirements for the digital solutions.
With parallel events, different ticket types and the need to adjust capacity in real time, standard event solutions were not enough. For example, the system had to be able to customize the number of visitors based on safety requirements -- both for fire safety and for the art on the walls. At the same time, the solution should be easy to use, both for employees and the public.
The museum also wanted a digital art catalog that mirrored the quality of the collection. Everything from details of the artworks to the story behind it should be readily available online, so that the experience started before the visit and continued after leaving the exhibition.
For PoMo, this wasn't just about technology, but about building a platform that could combine flexibility with control -- and that could grow with the museum.

The Solution: Technology That Elevates Art
Tailoring that hits the blink of an eye
To meet POMO's unique requirements, Increo developed a bespoke system that gives the museum complete control over its digital operations. From ticketing and capacity management to art catalog and membership benefits — it's all handled through one platform.
With the flexibility to adjust functions in real time, POMO can easily manage the number of visitors to events, ensure flow between parallel events, and empower audiences to choose the experience that best suits them. This is crucial for a museum that aims high, where both safety and user experience must be balanced.

Sanity meets the demands of art
At the core of the solution lies Sanity -- a flexible and intuitive technology that gives PoMo the ability to update everything from art catalogs to ticketing. The system also includes an online store that can be personalized for members and that provides the museum with new opportunities for revenue and audience engagement.

Built for the future
The solution is designed to grow with PoMo. Opportunities such as live camera from exhibitions and advanced membership benefits are already under planning, and with tailoring from Increo, the museum can meet both current and future needs. Technology unites art and business — and makes it easy to deliver great experiences to audiences.
