How We Created Norway's Best Online Sports Store
When the folks behind Braasport decided to start a brand new sports store, they opted for a somewhat nontraditional approach. Namely, they launched an online store first, then opened a showroom and finally a physical store.
The idea behind Braasport
The entrepreneurs behind Braasport has many years of experience in the sports industry, and has run both physical and online sports stores. They came to us to have designed, developed and marketed a new online store. The vision was to create Norway's best online sports store. Users should enter the online store and choose for themselves a universe to explore, such as bicycle. In addition, it should be easy to navigate by, among other things, favorite brand.

Launched online store first
Unlike most stores, Braasport launched the online store first, as well as a showroom. This occurred in the fall of 2017, while the first physical store opened at the start of 2018. Launching a brand new store, and a brand new online brand, takes its toll. In a tough market with many competitors, Braasport chose to focus on what they are best at, namely high sports expertise and extensive experience. Among other things, the online store is equipped with a live chat, where you can get good advice and purchase assistance. In addition, you can book an appointment in the showroom where you can see and try the different products, and at the same time get help in finding the equipment that suits you best.
The Braasport team goes to great lengths to provide great service, and ensure that customers are satisfied. It has happened several times that they call customers who have placed orders for equipment they believe is not optimal, and offered advice and guidance. If this is not a good service, we don't know.
Wanted to create the best online store we could get
We have worked with the people of Braasport in the past, and therefore knew each other well. This gave the project a somewhat non-traditional run, where we got very loose rein. We were shown confidence, and got to use our knowledge and experience to build the online store we thought was the best, with little detail management. We worked against different deadlines, trying to build the best possible project leading up to launch. An online store is an ongoing project, and we are constantly working on further development and new functionality.
Paid advertising
To ensure good visibility and profitable traffic to the online store from launch day, we planned a paid advertising run in parallel with the design and development process. Here we built a comprehensive paid keyword campaign in Adwords to ensure visibility on key keywords right from the start. In addition, we ran a display campaign for a high volume of views, which is an advantage when you want brand attention. Building email lists also became an important activity to be able to go out with messages to the most eager from the start. Today, we run both search and shopping campaigns to secure visits from a larger share of users searching for relevant words and products.
Digital marketing, as part of a holistic marketing strategy, ensured extremely high traffic to the online store in the first week, and the ROI (Return of Investment) has been positive from the very beginning. This traffic would have been missed by Braasport had this work not been shut down before launch. It is very important for a new brand to be visible with ads on relevant keywords, as the organic visibility takes longer to build up.
